The Aourga Well
The Aourga Well
The day is finally upon us!!
After months of hard work and dedication, we are proud to announce that the “Aourga Well” has been completed and is fully functional as of today. With a maximum capacity of 70 metric tons, the reservoir stands massive and ready to supply hundreds of households at a time to accommodate all the inhabitants of the region, which, according to recent census data, make up over 700 people (or over 80 families), as for cattle, these families hurdle way over 400 sheep that should also benefit from this abundant and dependable source of water. In addition to all these beneficiaries, the water will be used to accommodate two entire mosques, the “Tizi Mosque” and the “Tagounit Mosque”. The reservoir is also connected to 5 fountains with water streams aimed at filling water bottles and quenching the thirst of all the people who pass by such as travelers, explorers and tourists.

Launched a few days ago, words cannot describe our excitement and that of the Aourga inhabitants. As it is customary to go for what may be one of last visits to the area, we took a trip to celebrate with the Aourga people and take a final survey of the well’s mechanism to ensure guaranteed service and completion of the work from our thirst party builders.
Ayora would like to take this opportunity to profoundly thank the people of Aourga especially for their resilience, beautiful spirit, and overall help with locating the well and their endless volunteering efforts, therefore joining us on our common goal. It was by far one of the best experiences during our ventures to continue bringing smiles and people together.
The quality of the water is pristine and has seen many visitors from in and out of the region. The fountains show a strong flow and can fill up containers quite fast therefore increasing the people turn around and reducing any congestion in the site.
Below are videos and photos of the completed projects, as well as the ambiance with the folks of the area.:
