Back to the Basics

As the title suggests, we are back to our bread and butter!! As it is one of our flagship services, we officially have the next location of our well digging site for which the work has begun officially this past Saturday, August 27th, 2022.

Found in a remote location with proximity to numerous villages (Douars), this well will bring potable water to the villages’ inhabitants which make up approximately over 600 people per village. The villages most likely to pull ground water from this well are: Douar ait allouhia, Douar Taghrout, Douar Sidi Ahmed Rami, Douar Tiknit, Dour Aghlil Nahmou, Douar Takerzamt, Douar Tizi Souk Essabt, and a few more in the Aourga Area. The well will be available to visitors and others in the area and will also provide the drinking water for Aourga’s mosque due to the location of the well on a primary route (Primary Artery) for people in the area.

The people of these villages are in dire need of access to potable water, as it is easily imaginable given the harsh conditions the inhabitants encounter, from the rough inclement weather throughout the year to the complex mountainous landscape these Douars are located in. As it is our job to complete lengthy research on the optimal location for a well that serves the most people with the biggest need for water, the Ayora Foundation took charge in visiting various areas beforehand, primarily in the Atlas Mountains and the outskirts of the Sahara Desert and deliberating with many villagers who gave us their front of the line experience with retrieving water, therefore leading us to a beneficial decision. The location this time happens to be “Sebt Aourga”.

The Ayora Foundation and its members are beyond excited for this new source of life for many and will keep you posted on all the progress relating to this project as well as other simultaneous projects, such as the “Back to School” program focusing on providing school supplies for children from a variety of impoverished areas of the great kingdom of Morocco, marking the beginning of the school year.

Here some videos from the digging site at Sebt Aourga:

We are always very thankful for the participants, volunteers and followers who have helped us, and continue helping us today, with fulfilling our vision. Our core beliefs remain the heart of the operation, and we would like to remain on this path to impact the maximum amount of people.
